Twig+Tail Pathfinder Vest and Wild Things Shoes
I have been working hard on my Woodland Blanket, but when I came across the Twig+Tail patterns I had to strategically add in a few sewing breaks.
So far I have made the Pathfinder Vest (available in sizes 1-14) and the Wild Things Shoes (available in baby sizes and big kids sizes)
The Pathfinder Vest has so many different options, I am sure it took us an hour for my daughter and I to work out which version to make.
Round Hood, Pixie Hood
Round Neck, V Neck
Overlap Button Stand
Collar
Flutter Sleeves
Curved Dropped Back, Standard Back, Pleated Back, Extended Back
So many decisions.
In the end we decided to go with the round hood, round neck, no overlap, flutter sleeves and a standard length pleated back.
The thing I love the most about these patterns is they are designed to reuse materials. The outer fabric of this vest is an old wool blanket that I picked up for $5 and the inner fabric is a old sheet from my linen cupboard. You can even use felt woolen jumpers or use wool skirts. So many options.
The Wild Things Shoes are wonderfully designed. My children love making their slipper animals talk to each other. My daughter has the Bunny slippers which are made from the same fabric as her vest.
My son has the fox slippers, yes the ears are in the wrong place, oops. He still loves them though.
The other animal options included are Panda, Bunny, Bear, Raccoon and Mouse. They work up quickly. These are lined with the same fabric as the vest and I picked up a few pieces of fabric for 50c each from the second hand store. That blanket just keeps on giving.
